In a typical day, we make numerous purchases, but rarely do we ask the questions:
- Who produced this commodity/item?
- Under what conditions was it grown/created?
- Was the producer adequately compensated for his/her efforts?
Fair Trade products have undergone a rigorous auditing process which ensures that the following criteria have been met:
- The producer receives a fair price or wage in the local context
- The working environment is safe and democratically run
- No child labor was utilized
The result is that Fair Trade items embody both social responsibility & environmental sustainability. The superior products that the consumers then enjoy means that Everyone Wins with Fair Trade.
